Life Sciences Labor Market Research Breakfast
February 6, 2025

On February 6, 2025, LMIS hosted the Life Sciences Labor Market Research Breakfast, the first event in our new research breakfast series.
The event began with opening remarks from Dr. Brian Gibney, Dean for the Sciences at the CUNY Graduate Center. Following these remarks, Jaclyn Kelly, LMIS Director, guided attendees through a research presentation that highlighted workforce insights and career trajectories in the life sciences field.
The event also brought together a distinguished lineup of leaders from across the life sciences sector. Dr. Casey Lardner (Executive Director, Genspace) presented an overview of Genspace’s Break into Biotech program, and Rich Robbins (CEO, Upper West Strategies) shared an overview of the LifeSci NYC Internship Program, including presentations by two program alumnae who each described the role that their internship played in starting their journey along a life sciences career pathway.
Over the course of the morning’s program, panelists, speakers, and attendees explored the most in-demand skills for entry-level life sciences roles, the evolving impact of AI on employer expectations, and entry points for joining this dynamic field. The event received resoundingly positive feedback, with one attendee praising the opportunity to connect with peers, calling the event “informative and great for networking with like-minded individuals.”
