Eileen Jones joined LMIS as Lead Economist in 2019. She has over twenty years of experience as an applied economist and consultant conducting economic research and project evaluation, primarily focused on economic development and the New York City labor market.

Eileen’s work at LMIS combines quantitative analysis of labor market information, industry research, and primary qualitative data collection to produce actionable recommendations for clients and tools for workers entering the labor market or seeking to advance their careers. She has created career maps targeted at public and private sector workers, used real-time labor market data to synthesize conclusions about employer demand within occupation groups, and contributed to a report comparing labor market outcomes of CUNY graduates to the broader New York City workforce.

Prior to joining LMIS, Eileen was Vice President of the Economic Research and Analysis team at New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), where she oversaw economic impact estimation and cost-benefit modeling, supervised analyses and production of briefs related to policy issues facing the city, and tracked and reported on a variety of economic metrics such as employment and wage trends.

Eileen cares deeply about producing rigorous and thoughtful analyses that workers, policymakers, and organizations’ leaders can use to inform their decisions and strengthen the local economy. Eileen holds an M.A. in Economics from New York University and a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Richmond.
